My True Identity Poem by Mariam de Haan

My True Identity

Rating: 5.0

I'm changing.
Yes I know my face is the same
So is my name
And I'm still only partially sane,
But I'm changing.

I found true beauty.
It's always been in front of me
But I guess I was to blind to see.
And I'm happy.

I never understood why they cry when they read the words.
I never understood why a rock meant such worth.
I never understood why they prepare for the worst.

Now look at me.
One chapter and I'm teary.
I stand five times but don't grow weary.
I guess it's because I found me,
My true identity.

A great poem. As a former English teacher, may I make one small correction? But I guess I was TOO blind to see Excellent work. Keep it up.

Very inspiring. So true, we keep changing and if we keep an open mind, we will never stop changing. Sometimes we feel we have arrived but then the next circle is there and can soon not wait to be explored. Keep your ideals and your true identity close to your heart, Mariam, but never be afraid of the next major change coming your way. Osho said it as follows: we are not being; animals are beings; God is a being; we are mere becomings, at least if we keep up our hunger and search for truth with the big T.
