If the heavy flesh which drowns down my soul
Released my mind to fly the electric waves
I would transport myself not as a whole
But as a spirit which freed from body braves
Along the depths and heights of boundless time
Reaching back before we both were born
And then, leaping forward, past our prime
To see us in our dotage, bent and worn.
And even further yet, I'd like to quest
To see what traces of ourselves we leave
To live beyond us once we are laid to rest
That like peonies yearly death deceive.
But sadly, trapped as I am in my aging cage
I must be content to sit and dream upon this page.
