Name Poem by Dr Avinash Dal

Name

May I know your name
O creature, of unknown fame!
Solemn in the midst of agitation
Looking in my direction
What you are I wonder
What you want I ponder
Are you some Nature’s humour
Sage, demon or genius power
Oh! May I know your name

You may know your name
That gives you your fame
A sense of identity
Quaintness of personality
Though you sit in stout silence
Aloofness, a bit of verbal abstinence
You must know this premise
Where your own ‘I’ lies
You may know your name

May you know your name
Perhaps you are playing a game
Playing a mental hide and seek
Come forth or go away, freak!
It may not be only pretence
A long or short ignorance
Come out of this amnesia, be blessed
Rejoice the insight or be depressed
May you know your name

May your name be your name
Not others but yours to claim
Whatever your game, why should I bother
Carry your own progress further
We are both stuck with Destiny’s ties
A maze of half-truth, half-lies
In that respect only one summation
You are but only my reflection!
May your name be your name

Or be mine after all
