Name Recognition Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Name Recognition

Seldom is name recognition,
One's pre-conditioned wished to get.
Especially when one has an interest,
To have had from childhood.
Much different from other 'kids'.
Who chose to explore,
More traditional dreams...
Set to specific accepted limits.

To achieve name recognition,
Comes more of a surprise than not.
When one who does what it is to choose.
Without seeking attention as an incentive.
But loving what is done.
Regardless of who does to do,
Others may find meets their approval.
Left to wonder as time passes by,
How it is someone else...
Can achieve success and the last to know,
Why? And left to wonder what was done...
They did to do to get it.

"You've been doing this all of your life?
And did not expect name recognition to get? "

-I've been called many names most of my life.
And one day I heard my own to recognize.
That still leaves me wondering,
What it is I did to do.
No differently done to not expect.
The day would come I'd receive respect.
Leaving me left these days to express,
Appreciation and bewilderment.
At the same time.-
