No country can ill afford
To forget its people and look forward
For any kind of progress
With outside help and access
The Vietnam has survived
The outside contacts are revived
The peace is almost brought home
The people have always welcomed
They wanted peace
With life at ease
Outside forces were not in favor
It was question of pride and honor
Small children and women suffered a lot
As country was surprisingly caught
Between devil and destructive forces
With bare or no minimum sources
No country has witnessed such long struggle
Lots of bloodshed with hardship and trouble
Country withstood against mighty enemy
Won the independence with blessing from almighty
Yellow is called martyrdom
Any country has passed that test seldom
As Vietnam people have undergone
A tale of suffering never spoken
You find the yellow flowers at site
Where Hochi Minh* is laid to rest
Country may remember valiant people
Who waged relentless struggle
* lone freedom fighter and father of Vietnam
