Nationalisme Anodin Et Odieux

My eyes strayed
as I checked for words
to do with 'cochon',
French for 'pig'.

I know that 'cocky'
is Australian slang for 'farmer',
but didn't till today,
that 'cocky's joy'
is honey-sub
'golden syrup'.

Let me say,
'cocky's joy' is not my first
first Oz-slang find
the serendipitous way
of my compiled-in-Scotland Chambers.

Latin 'porcus' is 'a swine'.
Latin for 'pig' is 'suis'.
The Romans called the Swiss the Helvetians.
Was it the French who called them Les Suisses?
