Neemboo Aur Devdaar (Lemon And Cedar) , A Poem By Melissa Stein In Hindi/Urdu Translation

dukh se zyada aur kya cheeze khalis ho sakti hai?
barmaadi se hum nikaltay hain
aur barmaad honay k liye.
khonay ko jo kho chukay hain
na samjay k har cheeze
khonay k liye paida hoti hai.
ek lehmay k liye ye hamari hoti hai-
ghas main uga peela phool
ya music ki ek halki si dhun.
har din ek lifafa keechaD aur
shehid ki seal se bund ho jata hai.
bevkoofi se sochtay hain
k dukh dardi se hum ghar bana saktay hain.
us k kabjay bhi bund na hoN gay
ghar main kitabaiN na hoN gi
har ek, ek doosary ka khoon lay ga.
duniya k saray neemboo aur dedar k peD
hospital ki deevaroN se aati badboo ko
kabhi mita na sakaiN gay.

Lemon and cedar
BY MELISSA STEIN
What is so pure as grief? A wreck
set sail just to be wrecked again.
To lose what's lost-it's all born lost
and we just fetch it for a little while,
a dandelion span, a quarter-note.
Each day an envelope gummed shut
with honey and mud. Foolish
to think you can build a house
from suffering. Even the hinges will be
bitter. There will be no books
in that house, only transfusions.
And all the lemon and cedar
in the world won't rid the walls
of that hospital smell.
