Neither One Of Us Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Neither One Of Us

When I wanted to do it and did.
You thought it was just for attention,
I sought.
And when I did get that,
Only that from you was mentioned.
So when I proved to you,
Attention was not what I wanted.
From doing what was done to do.
You then said to me,
What I did you could better do.
But didn't.
Now neither one of us,
Is doing what others wished we did to want...
More of it.
To have them talk about,
The nothing we did to criticize.

"I don't understand."

And that's what I've been trying,
To tell you.
When I did you weren't doing that at all.
