Never Alone Poem by Midnight Clarity

Never Alone

I live i breathe
and have my being
wrapped in self-centered needs
no wants need apply
essentials only please
check in with the doorman
St. Peter is a rendezvous
for life for all the flickers
denoting passion to be fed
and panted into flame
so phoenix rises
and Destry rides again
to drive the devil down
some half-forgotten memory
resurgent from a wild west youth
while I surrender ego
ask for help
and Spirit sends me
i and i a blending
strong enough to
burn through steel
more powerful than sadness
no false coin to shatter
choking me
when I bite the gleam
the glitter that I need
to be gold.
life means to live
to find the meaning hidden
in the clouds
in sun nets scattered
at the bottom of the ocean
in shadows cast by mosquitoes
engorged on blood
my blood most likely
judging by the itches
left behind in payment
for the bounty
life a rich abundance
tasted to the full
as time ticks down
to barren tables, empty chargers
guests gone home
but I dance on
hand in hand with Spirit
lonely but not alone
