Never Doubt I Love; Poem by Jessica Lowe

Never Doubt I Love;

You came and found me,
When I was struggling and drowning,
Being pulled down by the careless and crashing waves,
Gasping for air, not wanting to care;
And just as I thought it was about to end, I was saved
Oh darling, you were so brave;

You pulled me to shore,
Drowning was I no more;
You checked all my vitals,
And to most I looked fine,
But you seemed to know better,
And you picked through my mind.

Opening me up,
Just like an old book,
That has always been shut,
You went and had a look.
And as my tears soon fell,
You were there by my side,
Weaving me out of my hell
Taking it all within your stride.

You started holding me close,
With Kisses upon my cheek;
With you as my daily dose,
Things didn't look so bleak

Things started to be looking up,
And as I looked with it,
It seemed almost as luck,
That as if I had only seen you in just a blur,
You started pulling into focus,
More and more.

And then just like that!
Standing before me,
Was quite a strapping young chap,
He got down on his knee,
And 'twas there that I sat
We started to talk about all this and that.

He told me his story,
About his life,
About all of his worry,
And all of his strife

And as he did so,
Our bodies became closer,
And as if I was dreaming,
He closed the space further,
And you'd never guess this,
But he gave me a kiss!

It was the sweetest kiss,
I ever did receive
It left me breathless,
Even knocked me off his knee;
Before I could fall though,
He was right there,
Holding me close to his torso,
With his fingers through my hair.

But before I could tell him,
How dear I held him that day,
I got swept up and taken away,
Away from boy I had grown so fond of,
The boy who deep down,
I knew that I loved.

Not to see him again,
for what seemed like forever,
Oh those bandits thought they were so very clever.
But as we traveled to each breath taking place,
I only saw his breath taking face.

And at night when everything went dead,
I dreamt the sweetest of things,
You filled up my head,
My fix of you, here I had plenty,
But when I awoke,
I found my arms were all but empty,

And it was in one of those moments,
I knew it to be true,
That I am absolutely, positively, hopelessly
In love with you 3
