Never Enough Poem by Linda Barnes

Never Enough

I never expect greatness
I always see the small
If I could change one thing
It comes down to love

I have loved many
They loved me too
Many depths are involved
Layers have stacked up

But there is no rule
Or how we must love
For each its different
But for me its small

Perhaps I needed less
Or dared not ask for more
I just know I wanted
A lot more than I got

I fear commitment now
Betrayal is the culprit
I gave all I could give
It was never enough
