New Moon Poem by Isabella Francis

New Moon

Full of milky light
And the night's soft tread
The clouds carried on to reach,
The moon as she bled.
Darkness surrounded her
Even as she emitted her own light,
Tears sparkled
Like the fireflies' light.
Someone has yet to know her tears
For the world is sound asleep.
The sun has gone down
And stars are too far away
To see her weep.
The clouds full of empathy
Reached out to her and
Expressed their sympathy.
They held her in their loving embrace
Shutting the world off of her light
And her sad grace.

The moon wept
So did the clouds
Wrapping up the earth
In their rainy shroud.
That night on,
They made a pact,
To build a friendship
That would forever last.

Once a month the moon takes a holiday,
During then, she and the clouds
Sit down and speak,
About love, life, struggles and maydays,
That holiday is now known
As the New Moon day.
