New Pegs Waiting In Cupboard Storage Poem by Terence George Craddock

there are new pegs still waiting in cupboard storage
still waiting because at present they are not needed
pale blue 14 purple 11 dark blue 11 green 10 yellow 6
but red 12 dark green 9 white 5 mid blue 2 are gone
already being used to hang out clothes some for years
because slowly over time under the sun pegs brittle brake
one day during a big wash I will suddenly be peg short
then new peg short needed new pegs will be added met old

until that day new pegs will wait silent in dark cupboard
it may be weeks months before any new pegs are needed
some new pegs will be waiting years in cupboard storage
but in time all new pegs will one day see clothesline light
under clear blue sky or cloudy with scattered white clouds
or if raining under cover on put up portable clothes lines
