Night Owl Poem by Richard D Remler

Night Owl

Rating: 5.0

.............................

I spied an Owl
In a tree.

I spied an Owl,
And it watched me

It watched me with
Such watchful eyes,

Clever, shrewd,
Cagey, wise.

It stretched its wings,
It took its time.

It stretched its wings,
And I stretched mine.

But neither he,
And neither I

Found the perfect
Time to fly.

The stars were out,
They shimmered bright.

It seemed an almost
Perfect night,

As I spied it,
And it spied me.

We'd grown accustomed
To the company.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
."A wise old owl sat on an oak;
The more he saw the less he spoke
'The less he spoke the more he heard;
Why aren't we like that wise old bird? "

What a delight! Wish I could have Such an encounter, Tonight! I enjoyed this poem so much. Its rhythm, its movement, its music, so picturesquely wise and vividly entertaining. Before I read your note, I kept thinking how much this was like a nursery rhyme, my first introduction to loving poetry and I loved it even more. Thank you.
