Nincompoop Poem by Richard D Remler

Nincompoop

Rating: 4.0

.....

I had an idea.
I'm certain I had.
Don't know where it went,
But it wasn't half bad.

It had half of an E,
And as many an O.
But wherever it went,
I simply don't know.

I confess it was quite
A gem of a thought,
This gem of a thought
That right now I have not.

It was witty and clever,
Creative, superb.
A magnificent use
Of a noun and a verb.

It was brilliant, true!
And it was ever quite grand!
It could stand on its own
If it knew how to stand.

And it was right there,
In-be'twixt now and here.
But how could such
A wonderful thought disappear?

Even I, in my own
Regal state must confess
That to lose such a thought
Was a nincompoop's mess.

And every nincompoop knows
To be patient, my friend.
For perhaps this fine thought
Will think by once again...
