Long before the rooster crows or dawn releases light
Reflections from the blacktop grid detect the amber tide
The path well trodden during day is cooling off its burn
The weary traveler on its back sneaks through the towns unheard
Like lighting Bugs that share their glow in the darkest places
Reflections from the amber lights, the path ahead it traces
The solitude can be so crowded if your mind concedes
To voices with no bodies, that hitch a ride for free
The time it crawls as if to stall the darkness that’s so tight
But miles gone by surrender fight to eastern cracks of light
Dilation shrinks within the eyes as sun’s amber glows increase
As if to say your journey here deserves a grand release
The struggle that’s behind you, at the journey’s end
Is now replaced with crowds of movers causing you to strain
The loneliness that was felt when the sun did sleep, is now your refuge
and your friend, both eager to embrace
