No Appetite For Negativity Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

No Appetite For Negativity

I have no appetite for negativity.
Division or racist hatred.
Marinated in heated debates.
Although others persist,
I must have an interest.
Since everywhere I go,
It's on a menu they show...
To serve up and insist,
I should at least consider...
Picking from several specialities.
They recommend on a daily basis.
And of having an expertise,
On how appropriately they can be served.
With eyes smiling and fixed on me.

"Hmmm...
I see.
You have scratched off,
Deeply fried 'Ignent' appetizers.
Any particular reason? "

-Well.
No offense, but...
The chef we had but fired,
Chose not to leave the recipe with us.
Especially after my family threatened,
To start a franchise.
In a neighborhood,
You may be familiar with.
Where folks love to dance.
Do their thing and eat.
Right there and in the street.
And we need all the customers,
We can get up in here.
Oh...
I miss seeing you people,
Lick your fingers.-
