No Place Like Home Poem by Juan Olivarez

No Place Like Home

There is gold in California,
Even then I couldn't stay.
Cause I'd left my heart in Texas,
And it resides there to this day.

I fell in love with the Mojave,
And it's burning arid sands.
But the Lonestar state was calling,
Me back to my beloved land.

Yes I do miss California,
But while there I was alone.
And my Texan heart kept saying,
There is just no place like home.
