Normalized Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Normalized

More of the same.
Decade after decade.
Year after year.
Done without thoughts to have.
Until one's own thinking process,
Has up and gone to disappear.

This repetition ultimately invites,
A strain on one's brain.
With a need to numb,
And medicate the pain away.
Eventually accepted as a way of life.
Normalized with others.
Incapable to recognize,
The effectiveness that has caused...
Their minds to be limited.
And deny to defend their mental illnesses.
With excuses to make,
For their thoughtless and abusive actions...
Taken upon those innocent to be victimized.
On being stressed.
But not to admit,
Overdue and delayed frequent sessions...
With a psychiatrist,
Is in need to prioritize immediately.
Instead of believing,
The growing numbers of those 'flipping out'.
Are the ones crazed.
And everyday,
More of the same to observe and hear...
About another,
Once normalized with others...
Screaming out of their minds.
Minds too long gone to define reality!
Too long gone,
To have already been crazed.
