Not a total pessimist
Not a total optimist,
For sure,
Poetry lovers never
Are...
And yet, I can endure
Life, and cast a rare
Smile, looking from afar,
I can endure vital pain
Incomprehension,
But not Abuse!
For that goes completely
Against my grain.
And yet!
There is so much
To see and learn
And give,
Even if things
Are not ever fair,
A flower's birth
A singing bird
A lover's smile
A piano concerto
Even, a poem, fine
Your hand in mine,
May keep us
There,
Optimistically happy
For a little while
Casting a sad smile,
Sorry for those
That don't appreciate
The simple beauty,
Of Life,
At its prime.
