Not Aware Or Warned Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Not Aware Or Warned

If the significance of a lesson,
Is repeated to teach it.
Yet is not learned.
And regardless of how it is presented.
Even with the answers given,
To not have changed the testing.
With time to pass to prepare,
For what comes to be done.
Many will still declare,
They were not aware or warned.

Although...
Expect empathy to get.
From those they claim to blame,
Had left them behind to ignore...
Their screams for help.
But not admit will they do,
Of refusing to open their doors before.
Because the ones who came to knock,
Had not lived in their neighborhood.

And besides...
They were not dressed appropriately,
For rescue to accept it.
Making decisions to deny their assistance,
Reasonable enough...
To await for others more impressive.

If the significance of a lesson
Is repeated to teach it.
Yet is not learned.
And regardless of how it is presented.
Even with the answers given
To not have changed the testing.
With time to pass to prepare.
For what comes to be done.
Many will still declare,
They were not aware or warned.
