Not Getting The Better Of Me Poem by Juliauna (J.jay) Maddux

Not Getting The Better Of Me

Life is Life,
only one thing is for sure, that is death.
The one thing that you know will happen in your life.
But this one thing, is also that one thing you are more afraid of than anything.
That is understandable, death is a scary thing.
Nobody knows what happens after life is through.
All you have is faith, and what you believe will happen. If you have no faith then all of a sudden death is even more nerve wracking.
Not knowing if it will just be cold, lonely darkness. And if you are also afraid of the dark that makes it even worse.
But then again, if you died and there happens to be heaven and God, he will deny you, for dening him. Or atleast that is what you are taught.
That is even more scary, being dammed to hell.
As if it is not bad enough that you are losing Friends and family. Never seeing them again, Holding your love, embracing them.
Never seeing another sunrise nor sunset.
Losing warmth and cold.
Losing the taste of food.
Losing the taste of a perfect kiss.
All death is, is Fear and Loss. Or atleast thats what i get from it.
Friends and family of mine have been afraid, and then lost everything.
Death got the better of them.

Death can either take you at your time, or it can get the better of you.
When is gets the better, it is because you have not fulfilled your life. You have not done what you want with your life. You live to other peoples standards and opinions, not your own.
By that you have let others get the best of you, and also death.

But then there is death that is forced, taking away life from those who did not have a choice.
When death is forced, it takes away opportunity for those people to continue their lives and their dreams,
I think that is the worst death of all.

Death is a huge, controversial, sad, intense topic.
And death will happen no matter what,
So from now on, i am going to live according to my standards, to my beliefs, and i will not be drug down,
I will complete my dreams, keeping making wishes, and do what i can to have a fulfilled life. No peer pressure will get to me. No death will get the better of me.

I encourage all, to do the same as I.
