Not In Situations Like These Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Not In Situations Like These

You must accept,
Keeping your eye on them.
Has loyalty and trust,
Completely close up your suspicions?

Has your luck been jeopardized,
By freely tossed flying lies?
And those folks don't know why they despise,
Or don't.
Their genes have them in motion.

Have you ever been introduced,
By resumé and name?
Latest footsteps you've made.
Where they were laid,
And who was impressed?
And quickly you scan over yourself,
To either approve or make excuses,
About how you are dressed.

'I don't usually look a mess! '

You must accept,
Keeping your eye on them.
Has loyalty and trust,
Completely close up your suspicions?
Probably not.
Not in situations like these.
