Not Without Sin Poem by Francis Duggan

Not Without Sin

There are some human sins any good person could not condone
But since i am not without sin i will not cast the first stone
No i will not be part of the abusive crowd
At the alleged offender in police custody jeering loud
i am not his judge to the law for his crimes he will pay
On if he is guilty or not the law will have it's say
In numbers the jeering mob may feel empowered
But the mob member on his own is more often than not a coward
I could never condone the behavior of the mob who harass a person who is under arrest
With their thuggish ways it is hard for to feel impressed
They would murder the alleged offender if they had their way
They are a hark back to the lynching mobs of a long by gone day
As for me the behavior of the criminal sort i could never condone
But i too am not without sin so i will not cast the stone
