Nothing You Wear Poem by Dorsey Baker

Nothing You Wear

You wear a mask
to hide your face
You wear clothes
to hide your nakedness
but nothing can you wear
to hide your loneliness
your unhappiness

Nothing can you wear
to make you feel comfortable
in your skin
because you feel
so unworthy within

Everyone sees you smile
and no one sees you
when you shed your tears
you have so much doubt
and so many fears
but you know that you
will be nothing
when the fire goes out
and the smoke disappears!
