Now And Then Poem by Myrtle Thomas

Now And Then

Now And Then

The spark in your eyes, like a thousand fireflies
diamonds danced in pools of blue
as laughter rings a song to a willing ear
warmth flows freely in the smoke of desire
hair as black, like raven's wings
the touch like the finest silk.

carry me away to another time
when only your love brought peace of mind
and just your touch could set me a flame
a kiss was the beginning of loves game

a time when a crystal tear fell as joy
back when our love was young and full of glory
you were the one who caused such glee
for my darling it was you, that made us ' we '

you see nature's chemistry played a part
of the decision to share the heart
making love is different than giving into lust
for compatibility goes along with trust

I see you now after all of the years
as a friend, lover a tamer of my fears
now if I leave in the wee hours of the night
take comfort in knowing loving you was right.

' What is age maybe just a lucky number.'
