On The Rocks Poem by Myrtle Thomas

On The Rocks

On The Rocks

the drama unfolds
into another day
secret loves rendezvous
tempting bars as a birdcage
tavern lights low as last nights kiss
the nectar awe the nectar
imprisons intoxicating inhibitions
like the last drop

wedding ring abandoned, unseen
lipstick smears just another stain
indulged fantasies are sour grapes
a glass now a mirror in someones head

imaginations and grandeur in ruby red
I love you slurred in suave deceit
a slow dance is a staggered fall
passion is poison to tonight's guest

hurried gulps in lustful desire
amnesia accolades a best friend
blinded by ambrosia and an evening star
held captive and unknowing
love on the rocks.
