Now You See It Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Now You See It

Now you see it.
Or keep pretending you don't.

Whatever had once,
For you represented...
And stood for something.
You refuse to acknowledge,
As a belief you held onto...
With loyalty and faith.

Is it a fear to face,
A Pandora's box to open...
Will disclose hidden contents.
And eliminate a democracy?
A democracy that will become,
Over ruled...
By a socialistic society.
Controlled by socialites.
And wealthy elitists.
Those who pray and hope,
With wishes...
You remain deceived.
To believe your entitlements,
And freedoms you receive.
Will suddenly end.
If diversity is allowed to be,
The face of 'your' democracy.
Destroying a representation,
Of a reality.
A reality you have been made,
To delude.
Can only be acceptable,
If one's skin is alabaster pure.
And blemish free.
When everyone,
Conscious knows...
Jesus Christ,
Had been a nomad.
A Jew.
And born nonwhite.

'You!
Your comments are appalling.
Irreverent.
Blasphemous and...
Disgustingly profane.'

I know.
Truth and its history,
Has that effect on many.
And I am guilty,
Of researching my curiosity.
To satisfy my quest for facts!
And...
Tell me something.
Followers of Jesus Christ,
Are called 'Christians'.
Right?

'Right! Why? '

And crucified,
By his own people?

'Well...I...uh...
I personally was not there.
And besides...
Rumors to hear them,
Are just what they are.
Rumors.
Unverifiable nonsense.
And nothing more,
Than malicious gossip! '

That's messed up!

'Tell me about it.
People are quick,
To rush and pass judgement.
Especially on others,
They have not before met.
To even get to know.
Huh? '

I...uh...

'That's okay.
No need to answer.
Thank God I am a 'Christian'.
And have been.
All of my life.
I listen to learn.
Me?
I don't jump to conclusions!
I could never be like that.
I'm not hypocritical.
So many these days are! '
