Nursery Rhymes Poem by Kelly Boutin

Nursery Rhymes

I was a baby left on the train-tracks,
now the trains are my lullabies,
I fell out of the tree and I got smashed,
but that song sings me to sleep at night,
you know, we all turn into ash,
we all die in nursery rhymes.

I was a stroller left on a hill
with no one to hold me tight,
a little bit of wind and the stroller fell,
but there was no baby inside,
following you, I tumbled down,
yeah, we all die in nursery rhymes.

I was left alone in a car
too young to reach the breaks,
I tried to steer my way home,
but I couldn't see the way,
somehow I tumboff a bridge
into the roaring waves.

I used my bottle to break the glass,
but all the cologne spilled out,
a little baby alone on the sand
sunk in a moat and drowned,
she built a dream with her hands
and then couldn't make it out.

I was a baby left in the waves,
the sharks still swim on by,
I guess they're waiting for me to dig my grave,
like vultures in the sky,
maybe there is no way to escape,
we all die in nursery rhymes
