On The Other Side Of The Sand Poem by Kelly Zion

On The Other Side Of The Sand

I want to live on the other side of the sand
where the sunsets are blocked out by the wind
when it brushes the leaves of my trees so they shine
and the darkness disappears from the blinds behind my eyes.
I want to live where the trees reach up to my sky
and the past is washed away by the petals of time
where flower blossoms blossom from my eyes
so I never cry as the purple tides
call me home to a home that never was mine,
a home all alone on a beach that was banned
because the ghost of a girl still walks on the sand
just a little shadow of a dying kitten
trapped behind the door of a sandcastle's kitchen
where the ghost of a warlock still stirs his cauldron
but she changed her last name the day after Halloween,
a day to late to save the kitten on the other side of the beach
a day too late to save the other side of her dreams
but he couldn't kill the kitten, he just left her there to die
and he fell in his cauldron and wouldn't even pay
child support but she made it somehow, you know
on the wisp of a dream she created a way
to erase the pain from her Heartland
and build herself a better dream
on the other side of the sand.
