O, Congressmen Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Bapu* did not say a word
Only prayed sincerely to lord
“He is real God’s person who knows the woes of poor”
Expresses real sorrow and feels when visit door to door

For every occasion
You are coming out with confession
We shall do no harm to the country
The country and its people shall have freedom and liberty

“Where are those words o, Congressmen”?
Why congress follows the pattern of “Tit for tat”
“Pays in same coin” as if taking revenge
On countrymen and unable to manage

Gandhiji had expressed desire
“Dismantle the congress and put it on fire”
His prophesy has proved true
The congressmen shall not play truthfully

Don’t take lead from wrong people
Think about people who always struggle
For two square meals
You are making their life miserable

Let legislation pass on the basis of majority
Give chance for open debate in democracy
Take strength on the floor of the house
Never react and run like cat and mouse

We are in pain to learn about no work being carried out
Who has given you right to talk on behalf of people straight?
The farmers are committing suicide
You people are asking concession n canteen, rise in pay and arbitrarily decide
