O The River Poem by Gary James Smith

O The River

O The River

O the river of the grace of God
That washes over me
Removing stains that sin had left
Before I came to Thee
Amen there's power in the blood!
That washes as white as snow
Every repentant heart knows thereof
And some have told me so!

Forgiven! ...Forgiven! ...Hallelujah!
Now songs of grace I sing
For faith in Christ is the victory
For saving faith it brings!
He took the penalty of death for me
And became my Resurrection
Hallelujah for His amazing grace
That will lead us to perfection!

O how blind I was...how blind
Until I read God's Word
To see the debt of sin I owed
How it was placed upon the Lord
Then the Spirit of truth came forth
To convict me of my sin
And a river of grace I received
When I repented and trusted in Him!

Grace has become my river of life
When I thirst I go to Christ
Who satisfies my heart's desires
Through His great Sacrifice
His Salvation cleanseth me
Hallelujah praise the Lord
O how thankful my soul now is
That I found Christ in the Word!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!
