Oblivion Poem by Ruta Mohapatra

Oblivion

Rating: 5.0

Drunk on power they arrived
Riding on two big black vehicles
With red number plates
Accompanied by gun carrying security men

The group climbed the stairs
Two steps at a time
Oblivious of the people present
People who quietly moved aside

Oh, the pride in their strides
The reckless posture
The contempt in their manners
For all lessor human beings!

‘Memento Mori' flashed through her mind…
