Obvious Displays Of Resentment Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Obvious Displays Of Resentment

People make other people wicked.
And teach them ways to be evil.
No one is born spewing venom.
Or cussing to speak words disgusting.
Done to do to intend as taught.
And...
Conscious to know,
A receiving of support for their actions.

To then when caught,
Doing what they have been taught to do...
Insist with a quick scripture quoted,
From their family Bibles...
What it is from King James' point of view,
The wishes of God to re-interpret.
Or have rewritten to appease,
Hidden insecurities.
Created to fear as a weakness shown.

To have developed from a need to feel superior.
Especially over those of African descent.
Making very obvious their resentment kept,
Since they assume this had been a curse.
A curse God chose to create them colorless.
And if that isn't the reason for their craze,
Nothing else they have done these days...
Can not be claimed come out of normal minds.

And that to explain,
No one yet has dared to make that attempt.
