Ode To Mourning Poem by S Holland

Ode To Mourning

Rating: 5.0

Oh, the joy of self-pity.
Of crying sorrows away.
Of giving 'way to a weaker state.
Of luxury for a day.

I wish to enjoy one moment,
Of not being strong at all.
I wish I could loose my feelings
So my stifled tears can fall.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Sometimes the effort of battling life's issues just seems too much. The camel's back is about to be broken with the last straw. Breaking down is just within reach, but alas, can't be enjoyed. For the hundredth time, there's just too much to be done. I was standing, just standing and staring out the window, when I wrote this some time ago. Have you ever felt that way?

@Brian Skyers Yes, there is. I used to feel that way daily, but now am not burdened with it much anymore. I think my emotions and my heart have been healed quite a bit. Thank you for your nice comment.

Well said Sandi - we all need to let go sometimes, and this shouldn't be seen as a sign of weakness, but rather of strength. We are human and should not be afraid to acknowledge that. Love this little poem, very much. Very well penned.
