Ode To Victor Hugo- 83 the Miserable epicurus

By Freeyad Ibrahim

The senator had pursued his career
with a single-mindness
Ignored such hindrances such as
conscience, good faith, justice
Achieving his ends without ever deviating
from the path of his own interests
Mellowed by success
Having wisely elected to take
the easy way through life
A disciple of Epicurus
And profit
by every chance that offered
To do otherwise,
would have seemed to him Absurd

FRYAD HUGO
