Of Drought Poem by Francis Duggan

Of Drought

Rating: 5.0

The lakes and dams low in water and the countryside brown, bare and dry
And not a rain cloud in the blue and grey sky
The creeks flowing at a trickle and bone dry every drain
The bare thirsty earth it is crying out for rain
The farmers feeding their cattle and their sheep on hay
Just to keep them from dying of hunger in truth one can say
On hay for their cattle and sheep not any weight gain
The farmers have a good reason on which to complain
Worldwide the weather has been acting so strange
Perhaps the reasons for this Global warming and ClimateChange
Which has many forms such as droughts, storms, floods and fire
Our abuse of our Earth Mother leaves a lot to desire
The paddocks brown and bare and bone dry every drain
And the dry thirsty earth it is crying out for rain
