Of No Consequence Poem by Lesley Taylor

Of No Consequence

standing on the edge looking down on herself
sleeping cold
darkness trembling around her
notes dark and cold
she goes to touch herself but
she's too far out of reach
too far away from herself
too far gone.
alone.
knees hit pavement hands grasp
concrete-abstractly
feeling blurred nolinesexist
gasping for air
-her lungs don't work
frightened. alone.
incorporeal.
she tries to touch where her face would be
-if she had a face
but she's too far gone.
Only standing on the fringe of reality
on the edge looking down
she closes her eyes and falls
-the girl of no consequence.
