Of Springtime And In Anticipation Of The Blossoming Of Tulips

Of Springtime and in anticipation of the blossoming of tulips
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
The Globe and Mail has published a summertime painting by J.E.H. Macdonald
With salvias and delphiniums and white lilies and
It brought joy to my heart
For the sun was shining and my heart was singing;

I felt a sombre mood come upon me
For many people have died because of the pandemic of COVID-19 virus
And I looked through Pan McMillan's blog for a poem
To best describe this paradoxical mood;

William Wordsworth's poem had new meaning:
I heard a thousand blended notes,
While in a grove I sate reclined,
In that sweet mood when pleasant thoughts
Bring sad thoughts to the mind.

Dear reader, I shall also draw your attention to
D.H. Lawrence's poem for he has metaphorically
Likened lush green growth to the blaze of fire
And choosing some lines, I shall include:
I am amazed at this spring, this conflagration
Of green fires lit on the soil of the earth, this blaze
Of growing, and sparks that puff in wild gyration,
Faces of people streaming across my gaze.

This is Easter when the quietness of spring
Speaks of the horror of the corona virus pandemic
But also brings in its beauty into the silent metropolis
That is filled with happy melancholy
For to offset the utter boredom and inconvenience of working from home,
There is the joy of extra four cable movie channels to
Add to the 52 channels and nothing's on TV;

Of course, there is Carbon Hydrogen Iodine Phosphorous Sulphur (CHIPS)
And Flourine Oxygen Oxygen Dioxane (FOOD)
And Carbon Ascorbate Nitrogen Dioxane Yttrium (CANDY)
And Carbon Ascorbate Potassium Ethanol (CAKE)
To keep us happy;

How could we forget Phosphorous Iodine Zithromax Zithromax Ascorbate (PIZZA)
Dear Reader, notice the adherence to antibiotics
For it is my suggestion to Prof. Peter Zandstra of IBBME at U of Toronto
To introduce a genetic code of immunity to combat and vanquish corona virus;

It is Easter holiday time and I say
Bring on the funny bunnies which
Show their sunny side
And I say to them, Let's make earnest money and spending money
AND say for love and money, there is honey,
But we, in the country of Canada, say that there is maple syrup
Which compliments the honey.
