Of The Faith Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Of The Faith

Of the Faith

Wanted but never I
Wrote a word of the faith
Of Sabbath; of the Hajj; pilgrimage.

Could never; never could
While bricks made linkage…
Bricks' roots in our faiths…
Have always remained same:
"Go visit brothers and sisters
Take along heart, ears
Leave greed of the wealth
Leave living for bread
Take command of the love
Talk of care; give and take…
This is best prayer..."

I saw them on the road
Saw a sign with words carved
Saw beard and haircut
And clothes, long unwashed
Saw hand out meaning "help".

Had a peach, nectarine
And offered with plea…
Rejecting murmured words
Did not hear what was said.

Do they do business of begging?
Was he sick in his mouth?
Did time cause rejecting?

And about my own faith?
What to say, what happened?
