Oh Africa! Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

Oh Africa!

Rating: 4.3

Oh Africa!

Oh Africa, you can see, but you are blind

You are the richest, but you are the poorest

You survive on aid, but you are the most kind

You adopted a religion, but yours is the purest

Oh Africa!

Wake up and smell your cocoa, your coffee

Take up technology, knowledge and avoid the coffin

Abdicate all things religious, embrace technology

Advance in research and innovation not theology

Turn those churches and synagogues
into research institutes

Turn those charlatan leaders, anddemagogues into destitutes

These are issues which hold you back my beautiful continent

These are things that weigh you down my bountiful constituence

Oh Africa, rise and rise and rise to greater heights

OhAfrica, the world will be pleasantly surprised by your lights so bright.
