Old Habits Dying Today Poem by Jude's Child

Old Habits Dying Today

A new age dawned today
The old Jude's child now dead...

I had known of the death for many days
But the 13th would be the date...
What is an hours sleep in comparison to health?
Is the sacrifice that great?
For I have taken a challenge today
A challenge to myself

Twenty seven years it took
For a wallet to be among my assets
A lifetime it took
To stop the fizzy drink that pleased me so
Hardship it took
To stop the ale that vexed me so
A photograph it took
To change my routine

And now as I look at that photo
Disbelieving what I see
Half the man I should be
I realise that I must start with me..

13 August 2007

But change has never been easy
But is it not true
That rewards are greater when effort exceeds change?
Whats this now I see?
A new man before me?
The old Jude's child now dead

And with God who can stop me?
