'Dense fog there is today'
Spreading the grains
in the courtyard of the house
for the birds,
the old woman talks
'The life, is not read in the schools,
so many pains,
so many medicines,
and a little darkness...
Catherine!
I am afraid,
shall I pass away
Catherine,
this year?
I am done with
everything in life
John is a doctor
in New Orlando
he always dreamt of
serving the humanity
Lisa is a wanderer
she always calls me up
from the cities not known
The one who brings
the flowers on mothers' day
might turn back this time
for good

بوڑھی عورت اور کیتھرین
آج گہری دھند ہے
گھر کے دالان میں
پرندوں کے لئے
اناج بکھیرتی
بوڑھی عورت
باتیں کرتی ہے،
اسکولوں میں
نہیں پڑھی جاتی
زندگی ،
بہت سے درد
بہت سی دوائیاں
اور تھوڑا سا اندھیرا
کیتھرین!
مجھے ڈر لگتا ہے
کیا میں مر جاؤں گی
کیتھرین!
اس برس ؟
میں نے سب کام کر لئے
جان ڈاکٹر ہے
نیو اورلینڈو میں
انسانیت کی خدمت
اس کا خواب تھا
لیزا مسافر ہے
فون کرتی ہے
ان جانے شہروں سے
مدرز ڈے پر پھول لانے والا
شاید اس بار لَوٹ جائے
آخری بار
کیتھرین!
کیتھرین!
بوڑھی عورت باتیں کرتی ہے
گھر کے دالان میں
قریب ستّر برس پہلے
کھیلتی ننّھی گڑیا سے.
