On A Strange Engagement Poem by vaibhav shah

On A Strange Engagement

Rating: 5.0

After few months
Two souls
Going to become one
The silence
Powerful
The passions
Extreme
The dreams
Unlimited
Expectations
Never ending
But there is a distance
A distance of
Tradition
Ideology
Society
Dominancy
Marked by
An interruption
Procrastination
False disposition
Varied perception
Nobody knows
How to escape it
Struggling to overcome
This deliberate dilemma
Which is created
Not by others
But by our own people
Only to sustain
Their supremacy
How long will it continue
Who will alter their view?
Will they change their mentality
Or waste these moments in futility?
The time has come
To revolt
Against this domestic war
To annihilate it
Completely
If they do not change
We will do it
Not for their sake
But for our benefit
Or else they will shape
Our thoughts
Control
Our emotions
And we will become
What they want
A puppet-only a puppet.

hi Vaibhav, another thought provoking poem, i must say. i really appreciate your selection of topics as they are the ones that we all feel about but cannot collect the courage to speak about them. its true, each line of your poem is true and sketches the attitude of people living in this society and about their behaviour to show their supremecy. i hope there will be more courageous people like you who will come forward to wipe these engraved lines from history and give an opportunity to sart anew. well done! ! ! take care.

I am reminded of Tagore: 'Where words come out from the depth of Truth, Where tireless striving towards perfection, Into that heaven of freedom my Father, let my country awake.' There is that fiery spirit in this poem. Love knows no bounds as Shakespeare says: 'My bounty is as deep as the sea, My love as deep; the more I give to thee, The more I have, for both are infinite.' There are living examples where loves broke all shackles: Laila-Majanu. Heer-Ranjha. Sohani-Mahiwal. Sheeri-Fariyad and Romeo-Juliet.
