On Friendship - Poem by Lauren Prue

Oh, when the world outside
Makes you long to shut your shades
And luck is for a drunken fool
When you’ve lost all hope, given up
Surrendered to the world
I will be there by your side
To lend a helping hand
I’ll always leave my door unlocked
I’ll be your escape plan

No word speaks thought
And bond so true
Than that of which
I can call you
You are to me, forevermore,
Best friend-
To weather any storm
