On Line Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

On Line

Rating: 2.8

"How are you one line" I spoke to a friend
You are dead for many years and again you are at telephone end
"I heard the same about you, how come you as ghost here"
He will delightedly reply and we may joke for hours

It is always good to remain in contact
Personally it helps to change attitudinal act
You disclose to a friend all troubling facts
He may sometimes come to help and set

"Can you please put him on line" I called on
"No, you can't and they gently hung on'
I dialed again to receive a voice in tears
It proved my worst compounded fears

I had not seen him for days and months
Some solitary though struck to my mind for his possible death
I brushed aside such rubbish idea and rested
But here news proved correct and my patience was tested

I nearly broke down at tragic news
He was dead for weaks and known to only few
I was in dark and felt tremendous shock
He was on pilgrimage and had suffered massive stroke

I felt restless and thought about limitation of existence
How much we fight and struggle to make felt our presence
Life winds up without a moments notice and person is no more
We can only feel bad rest of the time and remain very sore

We are human being and as such care for with attachment
Dear ones are always at heart and remain part of daily movement
Not a day passes without them and we share all our happiness
This is real story of our life and we grieve losses on face

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

rain The cycle of life as we know, to be and then not to be... as Shakespeare so well stated. The sadness left behind though is felt through this heartfelt poem.
