On Making A Difference Poem by Panagiota Romios

On Making A Difference

On Making a Difference

It does not matter how much money I have.
Nor how many medals or trophies I own.
Making a difference in the lives of others is
the way to live, I was shown.

Living as if I were the Hope Diamond under
glass, is no way for me to live, alas!
No need for hundreds to stare at me in stupefied
awe.
Getting, and never giving is the biggest booby
prize of all.

Counting my medals and jewels as if I were the
Queen of the May,
Tells the biggest story of a big egotist at play.
"Winner take all" is the opposite of giving.
Demanding people kiss our feet, is the saddest
and emptiest way of living.
