On Paper Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

On Paper

Rating: 5.0

It has remained for centuries
And may go on adding miseries
The girls may be molested
But never be equated

The law has remained on paper
Even though some are punished as rappers
The death penalty may deter
For future incidences to occur

From the day one the male child is preferred
The lavish entertainment is always offered
The girl child is kept under strict observation
From here starts the unequal relation

We have only favored such situation
And kept on willingly its continuation
How come we tolerate excessive treatment?
Later on go for cursing the matter with resentment

Still more stringent measures are needed
More legal conditions are to be heeded
The public opinion must be strengthened
The laws on female protect should be tightened
