On The Phone With My Sugar Poem by Paula Glynn

On The Phone With My Sugar

Every morning that I wake,
I look forward to meeting my friends at work,
Because they are my life and save me from myself,
But it is you who is my saviour,
Your kiss wakes this heart and keeps love beating,
For I don't want to grow cold and old.

I need some love like a car needs fuel,
And you are my fuel, you are my sugar,
You mean this whole world to me,
And it is hard to believe you used to be a stranger,
But now you are my soul mate,
Together we brave life and tempt fate.

I talk to you every night on the phone,
And we have so much to say,
Our lives busy to the max,
Our decisions keeping us on the right track,
For we travel with destiny.

We walk with pride and never feel lonely,
This relationship to keep us sane,
In a world of madness,
Although we're sometimes,
In and out of consciousness.

We always face the day with a secure smile,
We don't need to lie or waste other's time,
And we walk mile after mile,
Not stopping to clear up anybody's mess,
For we will never be less than them.

So when I'm on the phone with my sugar,
We talk for hours and feel we belong,
For we belong to each other's hearts,
Our love everlasting, our destiny and our fate.
