One Glass Too Many Poem by Paula Glynn

One Glass Too Many

I have had more than my fill of red wine tonight,
My inhibitions have loosened,
I am light headed and a little dizzy,
Even though I have balanced red wine with fizzy,
But I seem to be in love with you tonight,
The red wine loosening my tongue,
And the night is wicked and young,
For I am attracted to you,
As I feel high on alcohol and I go to my boudoir,
After coffee and cake, for this is love we will make,
After tonight, though, I am not sure,
Because there were times we used to be at war,
However, those times are gone,
And without you, I am not strong,
I need your touch, your tender caresses,
I need your love and your kiss,
Having you tonight my only wish,
So let us turn down the lights,
Forgetting all those fights,
Because you are my lover,
As I let red wine go to my head,
And together we shall create love in this bed.
